Coriander and Cumin - A special flavour pairing

Arthur Huxley - 02-10-2019

Having devoted a considerable amount of time arranging new friends for Goats Cheese (refer previous Epicurean Posts) we wondered if other Herbs and Spices might be interested in sharing their partners for special recipes.

Looking further into this and as every good Foodie would have noticed, the stand out Spice pairing in many classic recipes is Coriander and Cumin.

Sure Oregano stakes out many of the great Mediterranean recipes but Oregano tends to demand centre stage which sometimes makes it difficult to find a suitable partner.

By contrast, Coriander and Cumin are happy to lean on each other and expand their individual flavour profiles. Added to Chicken, Lamb or even Pork Chops, Coriander will give warm, sage and citrus notes, complimented by the equally warm but noticeably nutty and spicy flavour of the Cumin.

Plus a wonderful spice aroma for your kitchen !

Agreed they are not exactly opposites but certainly working beautifully together to give you a really exciting flavour umami. Especially if you allow a little Ginger and Turmeric to sneak in to the blend.

It then follows that given you have the time and you have found the quality spices, making your own Spice Blends is the ultimate for everybody who loves food and cooking.

Time Saving Just as it should be. But sometimes you don't have the time for the blending or the time to find best quality herbs and spices, especially after a long day.

At this time, having a Spice Road Spices pure and natural SpiceOn selection in your pantry will save the recipe and maybe even the evening !

And you will have found another special pairing: You and SpiceOn !
