Aromatics and Flavour

Spice Road Flavour For the community of Home Cooks

It is hard to imagine a home cook that does not give thought to health when preparing the evening meal or lunch.

The immediate focus would usually be on green fresh vegetables, grass fed beef, free range chicken or fresh seafood. The health benefits of this diet are clear and well accepted.

Building on this, there is another aspect for home cooks when making up a favourite recipe. The aromatics. That is, natural herbs and spices, citrus, onions, garlic, fruits and the various oils.

Aromatics

As we all know, the aromatics role is to make, what is sometimes rather plain food, however healthy, attractive through taste and aroma. That is what aromatics offer us. The joy of eating.

The problem we have is there are some people in the food chain that, to put it politely, take a series of short cuts. They provide the food or flavour but not the health: That is, a deliberate process of excessive Salt and Artificial Flavours rather than natural aromatics.

In moderation these products generally do no real harm but in excess they give many problems. And when it is the salt that is excessive it can be dangerous. You will note the adjective; excessive!

Of course our restaurant friends are masters in balanced excess. They are trained in aromatics and using salt within their aromatics. This is accepted and indeed, we all looked forward to enjoying and supporting a favourite restaurant. That is part of moderation.

Spice Road Flavour and Salt

And following the skills of restaurant chefs, we take great pride in saying that our Spice Road carefully blended spice seasonings are acclaimed as an expression of pure aromatics or flavour. Totally free of artiicial flavours and preservatives.

With one essential difference. We have blended the natural seasonings without salt, allowing home cooks to add salt to family taste and health and in so many cases; an important special diet. This is not a difficulty. Simply add the preferred amount of salt when adding the natural seasoning.

We do this because there is no way we could ever hope to add salt to one of our Seasonings that would suit everyone's diet. Health will always be a priority.

Stay well everyone Arthur Huxley
